Ukraine's prosecutors explain why they conduct new raid at state gas producer Ukrgazvydobuvannia

The Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) of Ukraine says that new raids on Ukraine's largest state-run gas producer, PJSC Ukrgazvydobuvannia, have been conducted as part of criminal proceedings opened in May 2017 under Part 5 of Article 191 (misappropriation, embezzlement or possession of property by abuse of office).

PGO spokesman Andriy Lysenko wrote on Facebook on January 16 that under investigation is the purchase by Ukrgazvydobuvannia of spare parts for pumps from Ukraina-2000 Ltd. in October 2016 to the tune of over UAH 51 million (US$1.8 million), which exceeds their market value by 3-20 times.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the raids on Ukrgazvydobuvannia took place on the morning of January 16.
