Exports of Ukraine's IT services 20% up in 2017, to $3.6 bln

The volume of exports of Ukrainian IT services in 2017 grew by 20% against 2016, to US$3.6 billion, according to the IT Ukraine Association's website.

IT services exports in 2018 are expected to amount to $4.5 billion, according to the infographics, published on the website.

"Contribution of the export-oriented ІТ industry to Ukraine's GDP accounts for 3.34%. In general, IT companies operating in Ukraine have paid UAH 16.7 billion [$582.9 million] in taxes," it said.

Read alsoUkrenergo sets up center to counter cyber attacksThe association also lists the necessary conditions for the IT sector's further development: stable taxation policy, the absence of new regulatory obstacles, the development of IT education and human potential, as well as the active promotion of Ukraine's brand on the international arena.

A total of 116,000 high-skilled professionals are involved in the industry, it said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Ukrainian IT sector in 2016 paid UAH 7.1 billion ($247.8 million) to the national budget, which was UAH 2 billion ($69.8 million) up against 2015. In 2016, the IT sector accounted for 3.4% of the country's GDP.
