First Deputy Head of Ukraine's State Service of Geology and Mineral Resources Mykola Foshchii says Ukraine has sufficient reserves of various minerals, estimated at US$3 trillion to $8 trillion.
"Our country is sufficiently provided with mineral resources ... According to various estimates, the potential of minerals is estimated at between three and eight trillion dollars," he said at a press conference on January 17.

According to this document, almost 20,000 deposits covering over one hundred types of minerals have been discovered in the country. In particular, more than 8,000 deposits and 1,000 objects of accounting covering 98 types of crude minerals are workable deposits and included in the state balance of mineral resources.
More than 3,000 deposits are currently being developed.
