Social policy minister vows higher pensions for military, law enforcers

Pension reform will see a 77% rise in the volume of pensions for military servicemen, taking into account the interests of war veterans, according to Ukraine’s Minister of Social Policy Andriy Reva, the government press service reports.

Reva noted that pensions had been recalculation from January 1, 2018, after the adoption of the relevant bill by the Ukrainian Parliament.

"The average pension in the country has grown to UAH 2,448 (US$85), while the average pensions of security officials is UAH 2,600 ($90)... The military should receive larger pensions, and after the changes are implemented to the pension provision of military personnel, according to our calculations, military pensions should grow by no less than 77%," said the head of the Ministry of Social Policy.
