Ukrainians pay over $519 mln in war tax in 2017

The largest amount, over UAH 1.7 billion ($58.9 million), was channeled to the budget in December 2017.

Revenue of Ukraine's state budget from war tax in 2017 grew by 31.5%, or UAH 3.6 billion (US$124.7 million), against 2016, to UAH 15 billion ($519.6 million), according to the State Fiscal Service website.

"Kyiv taxpayers paid the largest sum in war tax, that is UAH 2.398 billion [$83.1 million], those in Dnipropetrovsk region transferred UAH 859 million [$29.8 million] in war tax to the national budget, while UAH 810 million [$28.1 million] was paid in Kharkiv region and UAH 679 million [$23.5 million] in Lviv region," the report says.

The largest amount, that is over UAH 1.7 billion ($58.9 million) in war tax, was channeled to the budget in December 2017.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the war tax in Ukraine was introduced on August 3, 2014. A war tax rate is set at 1.5% of individual incomes subject to taxation.

War tax payers are residents who receive income both in Ukraine and abroad, non-residents with revenue in Ukraine, and tax agents.
