Number of individual entrepreneurs in Ukraine declines by 8,500 within two months

Volyn region accounted for the largest share of the individual entrepreneurs who closed their businesses.

The number of individual entrepreneurs in Ukraine declined by 8,500 persons in the past two months.

Over the period under review, 36,000 entrepreneurs closed their business, while 27,500 individuals got registered as entrepreneurs, according to the OpenDataBot, a business data registration monitoring service.

As reported, a total of 1,773,924 individual entrepreneurs were registered in Ukraine as of December 5, 2017. As of today, this number is 1,763,445.

In early 2017, after President Petro Poroshenko enacted amendments to the Tax Code, more than 300,000 individual entrepreneurs shut down their businesses in the first few months, while only 50,000 new individuals registered their businesses. In April 2017, there was a pause in the trend of individual business closures.
