Francis Malige, EBRD Managing Director for Eastern Europe and the Caucasus, has said Ukraine is significantly behind in the schedule of the IMF's funding program, in particular, because it is resistance to certain reforms.

In an interview with RBC Ukraine, Malige has said that Ukraine needs to enter the international capital market for further financing, therefore it is necessary to pursue reform.

At the same time, according to the official, the IMF is now significantly delaying another aid next tranche allocation. After all, according to the schedule, Ukraine should be receiving its 12th tranche.

Malige said that, in fact, Ukraine had received only fourth tranches while the terms for the next allocation remain unclear.

He explained that the country receives every tranche of the IMF after the implementation of a package of reforms in various areas.

At the same time, IMF requirements also say that Ukraine should fix the methodology for calculating the price of gas for the population and create the Anti-Corruption Court.

According to Malige, internal resistance to these reforms remains a significant problem Ukraine. If such resistance prevails, it will be difficult for the country to attract external financing from international financial organizations, the official says.
