Ukraine has lost five positions in the Legatum Prosperity Index, being 112th out of 149 countries.
The rating of the standard of living is compiled annually by the London-based Legatum Institute. The countries are ranked according to the so-called prosperity index, which is calculated by nine indicators: the economic quality, business environment, governance, education, health, social capital, natural environment, safety and security and personal freedom.
In the general Legatum Prosperity Index, Ukraine fell five positions from 107th to 112th place, compared with the previous year. And since the launch of the list (in 2006), Ukraine has lost as many as 17 positions.

According to the rating, the most developed category in Ukraine is education. By this criterion, Ukraine is in the top 50, ranking 48th. The most backward categories are health and safety and security. According to these indicators, Ukraine ranks 135th out of possible 149 places.

Among the neighbors of Ukraine, Poland occupies the highest place (32nd), followed by Slovakia (35th), Hungary (45th), Romania (46th), Belarus (95th), Moldova (98th), Russia (101st).
