Ukrainian apple exports to Europe soar by nine times since July 1

Total exports of Ukrainian apples over the period under review grew by 2.3 times.

Ukraine exported 9,200 tonnes of apples to the European Union countries in July-January of the 2017/18 season, according to customs statistics.

For comparison, apple exports to the EU over the same period in the 2016/17 season hardly exceeded 1,000 tonnes. The apples were supplied for further processing.

Meanwhile, Belarus remains a major buyer of Ukrainian apples and is also actively increasing apple imports.

In July-January this season, Ukraine shipped 11,400 tonnes of apples to Belarus, which was 1.6 times up year-over-year (y-o-y).

Ukraine's total apple exports over the period under review totaled 21,000 tonnes, which was 2.3 times up y-o-y.

As was earlier reported, Ukraine-EU trade in farm produce and foods in 2017 rose by 30.8%, or $1.9 billion, to $8.1 billion.
