Ukroboronprom CEO steps down

Roman Romanov hopes that the president will support his decision.

CEO of Ukraine’s major defense holding Ukroboronprom, Roman Romanov, announced his retirement.

According to a statement posted on the company website, Romanov said: "I made a decision to leave my post of CEO of SE Ukroboronprom. I wrote a corresponding statement last year. I hope that President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko will support my decision."

He recalled the company's successes over the recent years. Ukroboronprom supplies arms and equipment not only to the Ukrainian army, but also exports its products.

Read alsoPM Groysman to Ukroboronprom CEO: "Look for another job"According to Romanov, over the 3.5 years, more than 16,000 pieces of weapons and military equipment have been handed over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, National Guard and other security forces under the state order fulfilled by 100%.

"This is more than UAH 12.5 billion in taxes paid to the budgets of all levels, at a time when in the framework of the State Defense Order Ukroboronprom received UAH 11.7 billion. This is also completely severed ties with the military-industrial complex of Russia, program of import substitution, with almost 500 private enterprises across Ukraine having replaced components from the Russian Federation," Romanov said.

He also noted that the company has concluded fruitful agreements with a number of leading companies from the U.S., Germany, Canada, UK, Poland and many other countries around the world. "Some of them have already been attracted to mutually beneficial cooperation, while the rest will be known in the near future," the report said.

In addition, Romanov thanked the 80,000 employees "who turned the largest association of the Ukrainian defense industry into an effective mechanism, which in the most terrible times gave our defenders weapons that helped them save the country."
