Large gas stations in Ukraine cut prices first time in six months

A stronger hryvnia and a decline in fuel prices in Europe were conducive to the decrease in petrol prices in Ukraine.

Retail prices of petrol and diesel fuel at large gas stations across Ukraine decreased on February 9-12, for the first time in six months.

"The prices at the filling stations declined due to the strengthening of the hryvnia and a reduction in fuel prices on European markets in connection with cheaper crude oil," the UPECO fuel consultancy reported.

The decline of the prices was within UAH 0.10-0.70 per liter.

Prices of fuel at Shell filling stations dropped by 20 kopiykas per liter: A-92 petrol was traded at UAH 31.59, A-95 petrol at UAH 32.59, A-95 'Premium' at UAH 34.79, diesel fuel at UAH 29.99, and diesel fuel 'Premium' at UAH 30.48.

Prices of fuel at Glusco filling stations declined by UAH 0.20-0.70 per liter: A-92 petrol was sold for UAH 29.75, A-95 petrol for UAH 30.75, A-95 'Premium' for UAH 31.75, diesel fuel for UAH 28.25, and diesel fuel 'Premium' for UAH 28.45.

The AMIC operator cut prices of all types of fuel by 30 kopiykas per liter: the price of A-92 petrol dropped to UAH 30.99, that of A-95 petrol to UAH 31.99, A-95 'Premium' to UAH 32.99, diesel fuel to UAH 29.49, and diesel fuel 'Premium' to UAH 30,99.

Prices of petrol and diesel fuel at Kyiv's BRSM-Nafta filling stations fell by UAH 0.10-0.30 per liter, namely that of A-92 petrol to UAH 27.79, A-95 petrol to UAH 28.29, A-95 'Premium' to UAH 29.29, diesel fuel to UAH 26.99, and diesel fuel 'Premium' to UAH 27.79.

Kyiv's KLO chain lowered prices by UAH 10-70 per liter: the price of A-92 petrol was reduced to UAH 29.69, that of A-95 petrol to UAH 30.69, A-95 'Premium' to UAH 33.59, diesel fuel to UAH 28.29, and diesel fuel 'Premium' to UAH 31.99.

Mango, Ultra and Katral Pivden (South) chains also cut prices of fuel by UAH 0.10-0.40 per liter.

The average price of A-92 petrol at Ukrainian filling stations as of February 12 stood at UAH 29.23 per liter, that of A-95 petrol at UAH 30.03 per liter, while A-95 'Premium' at UAH 31, 20 per liter, diesel fuel at UAH 27.83 per liter, and diesel fuel 'Premium' at UAH 30.25 per liter, UPECO said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, fuel prices had increased by UAH 5 or more per liter on the average since August 2017, reaching record high levels.

In the middle of December 2017, Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Ihor Nasalyk said that the ministry together with the Anti-Monopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) had created a commission that would analyze possible price hike collusion. On December 21, the AMCU launched a probe on the fuel market, suspecting OKKO and WOG of possible concerted actions undermining competition.
