Antonov chief sacked following audit

Inspection files have been forwarded to the SBU security service and the anti-graft agency.

CEO of the state-run Ukroboronprom Aivaras Abromavicius has dismissed Oleksandr Donets from the post of President of Ukraine's national aircraft manufacturer Antonov SE.

The relevant order was signed on June 9, according to the concern's press service.

Abromavicius also appointed Oleksandr Los as Antonov's acting head.

The Ukroboronprom-appointed commission had earlier completed the audit at Antonov SE before forwarding the case file to the SBU Security Service of Ukraine and the National Agency on Corruption Prevention.

The audit was conducted from April 27 to May 22 on the instruction of Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal based on the SBU report alleging threats to national security associated with "inaction and erratic management" at Antonov.

"Based on the results of the audit, numerous facts were revealed that testify to the inefficient management of a state-owned enterprise; misuse of assets; abuse and violations by management that could result in major losses to the state and inflict significant damage to the reputation of Ukraine's largest aviation enterprise," reads the report.

The audit report was also sent to the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, the Cabinet of Ministers and, the Office of the President of Ukraine.

UNIAN memo. State-owned Antonov is a manufacturer of freight and passenger aircraft, as well as special-purpose planes. Among the company's most recognized projects are the An-32, An-148, An-158, An-74, An-124, An-70, and An-225.

Ukraine's state-run Ukroboronprom concern was established in 2010 to ensure the effective operation and management of state-run economic entities involved in the development, manufacture, sale, repair, upgrading and disposal of weapons, military and special equipment, and ammunition. Ukroboronprom incorporates about 140 enterprises of Ukraine's military industrial complex.
