Head of the Ukrainian State Food Safety and Consumer Protection Service's Main Department in Chernivtsi region Anzhela Kosovan says an outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) has been reported at the Kotelevo farming enterprise in the village under the same name in Chernivtsi region's Dnistrovskyi district.

According to Kosovan, laboratory tests have established that African swine fever was the cause of their death.
As a result, 21,000 pigs will have to be destroyed in the village, she added.
In this regard, the State Extraordinary Anti-Epizootic Commission held a special meeting on Wednesday morning. It was decided to determine the pig farm as an epizootic center of African swine fever and announce a quarantine there. In addition, the commission designated the village of Koteleve and a three-kilometer area around it as a quarantine zone.
