Deposits in hryvnias in December 2020 alone expanded by 9.5%.
Bank deposits in the national currency in Ukraine in 2020 grew by 30.7%, to UAH 838 billion (US$29.9 billion), while deposits in foreign currency also showed growth – by 20.4%, to US$17.46 billion, in the U.S. dollar equivalent.
Bank deposits in hryvnias in December 2020 alone increased by 9.5%, while those in foreign currency declined by 2.4%, according to the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) website.
The balance of hryvnia loans shrank by 2.8% from January to December 2020 (by 1.2% in December 2020 alone), to UAH 595.954 billion (US$21.2 billion), the regulator said.

The volume of bank deposits in the national currency in Ukraine in 2019 rose by 18.5%, to UAH 639.7 billion (US$22.8 billion), while that of deposits in foreign currency expanded by 28.5%, to US$17.2 billion.
