Passenger flow in Boryspil International Airport drops dramatically since year-start

The number of transfer passengers decreased by 82.6%.

Boryspil International Airport (KBP) has served 3.5 million passengers over the eight months of 2020, which is 65% fewer than in the same period last year (9.9 million).

That's according to the Center for Transport Strategies referring to the airport administration's data.

Among all passengers serviced 2.3 million are those who took regular flights (69% fewer on year) and 1.1 million – chartered flights (50 % fewer).

The share of transfers in total passenger flow decreased from 23% to 11.5%. At the same time, in August, traffic amounted to 656,000 passengers (60% lower).

Most of the airport's premises are located in the village of Hora, Borispil district of Kyiv region, where the legal entity is officially registered.

The smaller part of the premises is within Boryspil city limits.

KBP is a state-owned enterprise that provides 68% of all air transportation in Ukraine.

The airport is the home base for the largest national carrier – Ukraine International Airlines.

  • In 2019, Boryspil International Airport ranked on top of the ACI Europe rating.
  • The record dynamics of passenger traffic growth at 21.1% ensured the top position among major airports with passenger traffic from 10 million to 25 million passengers.
