Rada appoints Minister for Agrarian Policy

The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has supported the appointment of the incumbent head of to the State Service of Ukraine for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre, Roman Leshchenko, as Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

A total of 242 Members of Parliament have backed the relevant resolution, an UNIAN correspondent reported on December 17.

Newly appointed minister's background

  • Roman Leshchenko, 32, was born into a family of farmers in the village of Nahirna (Cherkasy region's Zhashkiv district) in 1988.
  • Leshchenko, a PhD in Law, graduated from Law Faculty at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
  • Since 2007, Leshchenko has was employed by OSG Group as chief legal consultant. In 2013, he took up agricultural consulting, having founded the Ukrainian Agrarian Center.
  • Since 2013, he had been teaching at the university.
  • Leshchenko served as Presidential Commissioner for Land Affairs from October 2019 to June, 2020.
  • On June 10, 2020, he was appointed Chairman of the State Service of Ukraine for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre.
