Sales of new passenger cars in Ukraine grow by 12% in June

Renault tops the June ranking with 1,155 new passenger cars.

Sales of new passenger cars in Ukraine grew by 12% in June 2020 year-over-year (y-o-y), to 7,300 vehicles.

Renault was in the lead of the June ranking with 1,155 new passenger cars sold on the Ukrainian market, which was 19% up y-o-y, the Ukrautoprom association's press service said.

Toyota was second with 1,049 vehicles sold in over the period under review, which was 4% down from June 2019.

KIA cars ranked third as they were assigned 677 Ukrainian license plates in June showing a 39% growth y-o-y.

The Skoda car brand became fourth with 481 vehicles sold (29% up from June 2019).

The Hyundai brand ranked fifth with 398 cars with sold over the month (4% growth).

The top 10 cars in June also included Peugeot with 328 vehicles sold (a 30% growth y-o-y), Mercedes-Benz with 286 vehicles (a 51% growth), Suzuki with 277 vehicles (a 5% growth), Nissan with 232 vehicles (a 44% decline), and Mazda with 231 units (a 24% growth).

The KIA Sportage crossover became the month's bestseller with 584 cars sold.

As UNIAN reported earlier, sales of new commercial vehicles in Ukraine in 2019 dropped by 3% y-o-y, to 12,400 vehicles, according to Ukrautoprom.

UNIAN memo. The Ukrainian Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association, Ukrautoprom, was created in 1997. Its founders include more than 20 leading Ukrainian enterprises of the automotive industry. Among them are Zaporizhia-based ZAZ Plc., Lviv-based bus manufacturer LAZ Plc., Kremenchuk-based truck manufacturer AutoKrAZ PJSC, and others.
