An average tip in July was US$2.56.
Ukraine's largest state-owned PrivatBank says Ukrainian citizens in July 2020 paid more than UAH 3.3 million (US$120,835) in cashless tips to waiters of cafes and restaurants, which has become a record high amount since the cashless tipping technology was launched by the bank.
During the first month of quarantine easing, PrivatBank's customers paid 44,000 cashless tips in catering establishments, the bank's press service said on its website on August 18.

Cashless tips
"Cashless tips are a great way to support staff and development of establishments in the industry that has been affected most by the coronavirus pandemic and the introduction of quarantine measures," the press service quoted Head of Retail Business at PrivatBank Yevhen Vasiltsov as saying.
How this works
The cashless tip service in POS-terminals was launched in December 2018. By paying a bill with a bank card, visitors can choose the size of tips to be credited to a waiter's salary card.
Ukrainians opting for cashless
Since year-start, Ukrainian citizens have paid for their purchases over 30% more often using bank cards and digital wallets, despite the overall decline in trade over quarantine restrictions.
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) said that Ukrainians had been using less cash in their payment transactions as of August 7, 2020, opting for cashless.
