Ryanair, SWISS resume regular flights to Kyiv on June 21

Ryanair and SWISS on June 21, 2020, resumed regular flights to Kyiv's Boryspil Airport after a three-month break over the coronavirus pandemic.

Ryanair transported its first passengers from Barcelona, SWISS handled the first flight to Kyiv from Zurich, according to the aviation news portal avianews.com.

In June, the Irish low-cost airline will serve three routes to Ukraine – from Barcelona and Madrid (Spain), and Berlin (Germany) to Kyiv twice a week.

The relaunch of a route between Krakow (Poland) and Kyiv was postponed over a ban imposed by the Polish authorities on flights from Ukraine and other countries until June 30.

To work before the end of the summer navigation season, Ryanair plans to resume only half of its previous Ukrainian routes in July, it expects to start flights from the cities of Italy to Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, and Kharkiv. The corresponding permission for the airline was issued by the Italian Civil Aviation Authority, also known as ENAC.

SWISS at first will fly between Kyiv and Zurich once a week on Sundays. From July, the airline plans to increase the frequency to two flights a week.

As UNIAN reported, European Union member states will gradually open external borders for Ukrainians only starting from July 1 if certain conditions exist, according to EU Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson.
