In total, 253,000 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized over the period under review.
The National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU) says it paid more than UAH 11 billion (US$392.2 million) for the treatment of hospitalized COVID-19 patients in April-December 2020, that is almost UAH 45,000 (US$1,604) per patient, on the average.
That is according to a statement by the NHSU posted on Facebook on January 18.

Those in need for intensive care in hospitals accounted for 19.6%.
The number of hospitalized patients in December alone decreased by 3,000 from November 2020. That is, 6,000 patients were hospitalized in the last months of 2020, while another 11,500 COVID-19 patients continued treatment started in November.
In addition, the number of patients who had the oxygen supply in December grew by 4,000 against November. Their total number was almost 50,000, which accounted for 69% of all patients treated in December. More than 13,000 patients were treated in the intensive care units, which was 348 up from those hospitalized in November. In December, the number of patients in need for lung ventilators increased from over 5,000 to more than 6,000 people.
In December, most of COVID-19 patients were hospitalized in the city of Kyiv (6,298 people), Odesa region (4,139), Dnipropetrovsk region (3,869), and Kharkiv region (3,617).
