Ukraine lifts duty off EU wine imports

Earlier, the duty stood at EUR 0.3-0.4 per liter.

In line with the obligation undertaken within the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement with the European Union, Ukraine from January 1 called off the duty on wine imports from the Bloc's member states.

As part of DCFTA, which is an economic part of the Association Agreement, Ukraine is obliged to introduce zero import duties on a number of goods within a seven-year period after the deal's signing, AgroPolit.com reports.

Earlier, the duty stood at EUR 0.3-0.4 per liter.

In 2019, Ukraine's wine exports stood at $11.9 million.

The largest market was Kazakhstan, where Ukraine supplied $1.3 million worth of wine.

Another major market remains Germany (with a volume of wine imports from Ukraine at $1 million).

At the same time, overall wine imports to Ukraine last year amounted to $146.7 million.
