Digital transformation ministry in talks with PayPal, Netflix on operational launch in Ukraine

The ministry is also negotiating with Stripe.

Deputy Minister for Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Oleksandr Bornyakov, says the ministry is now in talks with the world's largest payment system PayPal and streaming service Netflix on their entry into the Ukrainian market.

The official made the comment at a panel discussion on the draft National Economic Strategy of Ukraine until 2030, as reported by an UNIAN correspondent on February 2.

"We're currently negotiating with PayPal, Netflix, and [a U.S.-based online payment service] Stripe, doing our best to have these businesses launch their operations in Ukraine," he said.

As for Netflix, this is about the opening of an R&D center (Research and Development Center).

Background

In May 2020, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine said it was in dialogue with one of the world's largest payment systems, PayPal, on the prospects of their entry into the Ukrainian market.

In December 2020, the National Securities and Stock Market Commission (NSSMC) of Ukraine announced it had admitted shares of six American technology companies, including Netflix Inc., to circulation.
