It is planned to introduce NBU's bankID soon to cover the maximum number of customers.
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) on September 15, 2020, published information on changes in the e-money regulation system; therefore, in preparation for the full implementation of the NBU resolution, the market's leading operator, the GlobalMoney payment system, introduced in test mode the new service to identify e-wallets via bankID.
"Now customers of PrivatBank, Monobank, Pivdenny Bank, and certain other partner banks with a total customer base of more than 25 million individuals may undergo identification in the Global24 mobile e-wallet. It is planned to introduce NBU's bankID soon to cover the maximum number of customers," the GlobalMoney press service said.
E-money in Ukraine: latest developments
The National Bank on September 14 published Resolution No. 133 on changes to the resolution on e-money. The document provides for raising the cap for funds stored in users' e-wallets from UAH 14,000 (US$499) to UAH 400,000 (US$14,255). At the same time, the central bank introduced obligatory identification of e-wallet users.

Resolution provisions will come into effect in six months. During this time, market participants will have to finalize technical details, develop the required paperwork, and introduce proposals to change e-money rules.
GlobalMoney says the e-money system operates under current legislation as usual. Each user will be notified of changes in advance. At the same time, even now they may undergo identification.
The GlobalMoney international payment system has been on the market since 2009. The system focuses on transactions with mobile operators, retail chains, banks, and other financial institutions. More than 80% of Ukrainian e-wallets are created within the GlobalMoney e-money system. Among GlobalMoney's partners are PrivatBank, Monobank, Alliance Bank, mobile operators Vodafone, Kyivstar and Lifecell, as well as Ukrposhta (Ukraine's state-owned postal services provider), ALLO retail chain, WOG gas station chain, etc.
