Economy Ministry developing support program for SMBs in public procurement

The ministry would be ready to share details in two to three weeks.

Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade, and Agriculture Dmytro Romanovych has said the ministry is developing a small and medium business support program in public procurement.

"We are testing, so far in a closed mode, a small and medium business support program in public procurement. No details so far. As soon as we are sure, we will announce this program to more actively attract small and medium businesses to public procurement," he said during the online conference "Restoring local economy. How state and local governments can support local businesses during and after quarantine."

Romanovych said the ministry would be ready to share details about the program in two to three weeks.

Also, the official said the ministry was working to strengthen the "Big Construction" program.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on April 27, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this week [April 27 – May 3] the government and the National Bank of Ukraine should present mortgage programs for the population at a rate of about 10% and small business loans at a low rate for paying wages to employees.

On April 15, the Cabinet of Ministers increased the maximum loan amount under the Affordable Loans 5-7-9% program to UAH 3 million (US$110,701) from UAH 2 million (US$73,800).

According to Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko, the adopted changes allow to increase up to UAH 3 million the maximum amount of loans that are provided to the entrepreneur or related counterparties.
