Ukraine approves economic strategy until 2030

The document defines strategic steps for the industry, agricultural sector, mining, infrastructure, transport, energy sector, information and communication technologies, creative industries, and services.

The Cabinet of Ministers at a meeting on Wednesday, March 3, approved the National Economic Strategy of Ukraine until 2030.

Representatives of more than two dozen think tanks, several dozen business associations, 40 executive authorities, the expert community and civil society, as well as people's deputies, participated in the drafting process, the government press service reports.

"The document defines strategic steps for the development of industry, agricultural sector, mining, infrastructure, transport, energy sector, information and communication technologies, creative industries, and services. The strategy also takes into account important cross-cutting areas such as going digital, the "green" course, development of entrepreneurship, and balanced regional development," the report notes.

Background

In November 2020, the government reported on the audit of the domestic economy and vectors of economic development until 2030. At the same time, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said the Cabinet had identified 30 priority projects set to be implemented until 2030 within the framework of the National Economic Strategy.

At the end of January 2021, public discussion of the draft Strategy launched, while the Cabinet of Ministers initially planned to present the Strategy in the first quarter of 2021.
