Electric car sales shrink by 1% in 2020

In 2020, Nissan Leaf remained the most popular model among electric cars in Ukraine.

The sales of electric vehicles in Ukraine in 2020 shrank by 1% against 2019, to 7,455.

In particular, sales of passenger cars stood at 7,095 (new ones accounted for a mere 9%), those of commercial cars – at 359 (with a 3% share of new vehicles), while one 2019 electric bus was sold last year, the Ukrautoprom Association's press service said on its website on January 13.

The average age of electric cars with mileage registered in 2020 was five years (passenger cars) and seven years (commercial vehicles).

In 2020, Nissan Leaf remained the most popular electric car in Ukraine, with 2,180 electric cars of this make received Ukrainian license plates.

Tesla Model 3 ranked second with 865 cars registered in Ukraine.

Tesla Model S came third: 753 such Teslas were registered in Ukraine over the period under review.

Chevrolet Bolt became fourth with 474 cars sold last year.

Tesla Model X ranked fifth with 366 electric cars registered in the country.

At the same time, the AUDI E-Tron became the year's bestseller with 122 new cars sold.

In December 2020, a total of 632 electric vehicles were sold on Ukraine's car market, which was 8% up year-over-year (y-o-y).

The bulk of electric vehicles registrations in December 2020 was related to passenger cars, that is 598 units (7% up y-o-y). At the same time, 34 commercial electric cars was registered in Ukraine in the last month of 2020 (36% up y-o-y).

Sales of electric cars in Ukraine in 2019 soared by almost 1.5 times against 2018, to 7,542.
