Ukraine cuts electricity exports in monetary terms by almost 26% in 2020

Hungary has bought some 46.3% of Ukrainian electricity sold abroad.

Ukraine in 2020 reduced foreign currency revenue from electricity exports by 25.9% against 2019, to US$280.8 million.

Hungary has bought some 46.3% of Ukrainian electricity sold abroad (US$130 million), while the share of Poland was 30.2% (US$85 million) and that of Romania was 17.7% (US$49.7 million), according to Ukraine's State Customs Service.

Electricity exports to other countries stood at US$16 million.

Background

Ukraine in 2019 saw a 14% increase in foreign currency receipts from electricity exports, to US$379 million against 2018, while spending on electricity imports stood at US$121.4 million.
