Former top manager at Naftogaz of Ukraine, Yuriy Vitrenko, could once again be nominated for the post of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Energy, with the nomination being submitted for Parliament's approval.

That's according to Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Dmytro Razumkov, who spoke at a briefing on Monday, February 1, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

answering a question from journalists whether it is possible that Vitrenko's candidacy was again proposed for the post of Minister of Energy after two unsuccessful attempts to appoint him.

"Theoretically, this is possible," the speaker noted.

He recalled that, according to the procedure, the coalition, which in the current Parliament composition is is the Servant of the People faction, nominates a potential minister, while a prime minister submits the nomination for parliament's vote.

Razumkov recalled that neither Constitution nor laws prohibit multiple submissions of the same nominee for a ministerial post for parliament vote.

He also confirmed the reports, voiced earlier today by a number of legislators, on a possible meeting set to be held on Tuesday between government and parliament leadership, as well as chairs of parliamentary factions and groups.

According to the speaker, the parliament is "ready to work", but this should be "joint work" with the government, so such a meeting is necessary.
