EU to allocate almost EUR 10 mln for digital ministry's projects

This is the first tranche of the total EUR 25 million the EU plans to provide.

Ukraine's Digital Transformation Ministry says the European Union will allocate EUR 9.6 million under the EU4DigitalUA project to improve the government's digital infrastructure and electronic services system.

This is the first tranche of the EUR 25 million that the EU intends to provide to Ukraine for digital transformation projects, the ministry's press service said on its website on November 25.

Jointly, the ministry and the EU have identified the following areas for sectoral development: modernization of public e-services, development of cybersecurity and data protection, connection of basic registers to the Trembita data exchange system, development of state digital ID cards and the register of citizens' residence, development of e-services on the Diia portal and in the Diia app, as well as electronic trust services, etc.

Estonia's e-Governance Academy is expected to lead the project, the report said.

Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, Ambassador Matti Maasikas, says the project is part of the Bloc's support for the country's European integration.

Background

In June, Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov said that the European Union planned to provide the ministry with US$25 million for five years for the development of the country's digital projects.
