Ferroalloy production in Ukraine shrinks by 27% in Jan-May

Ferroalloy production in Ukraine in January-May 2020 shrank by 27% year-over-year (y-o-y), to 340,300 tonnes.

The production of silicomanganese over the period under review decreased by 27.5%, to 253,600 tonnes, ferrosilicon production fell by 60%, to 23,490 tonnes, and that of metallic manganese dropped by 72%, to 870 tonnes, according to the Ukrainian ferroalloy producers association UkrFA.

However, ferromanganese production increased by 41%, to 62,360 tonnes.

As UNIAN reported earlier, ferroalloy production in Ukraine in 2019 grew by 0.24% against 2018, to 1.024 million tonnes.

UNIAN memo. Ferroalloys in Ukraine are produced by Nikopol, Zaporizhia and Stakhanov ferroalloy plants, as well as Pobuzhsky ferronickel plant. The products are exported to the CIS countries, the EU, Asia, and Africa.
