Ukraine's government includes gas transport system's operator in list of strategic assets

Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has included LLC Gas Transmission System Operator (TSO) of Ukraine in the list of strategically important assets.

The respective resolution was adopted on Wednesday, July 15, without prior debate.

"The draft resolution was developed in accordance with the substantiated proposals of LLC Gas TSO of Ukraine as a company that uses state-owned assets of JSC Magistralni Gazoprovody Ukrainy (MGU) for transportation of natural gas by main pipelines," the explanatory note to the resolution says.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on January 1, 2020, the functions of the operator of the country's trunk gas pipelines were transferred from state-owned Ukrtransgaz to LLC Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine, which was transferred for management by state-owned Magistralni Gazoprovody Ukrainy subject to Ukraine's Finance Ministry.

In 2019, transit shipments of natural gas via Ukraine's gas transport system grew by 3.2%, to 89.58 billion cubic meters.
