Ukraine global pioneer in e-documents transfer – Vice PM

The country's market of banking services is one of the most advanced ones in terms of digitization.

Ukraine became the world's first country to launch a digital document sharing service that allows online transfers of e-document copies to banks.

"We're very pro-active in creating a digital state. We are the first in the world to launch digital passports," Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov told a briefing on Tuesday, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

Three banks have already joined the new service, and more than 30 banks are at the stage of adapting the technology.

"Already 25 million Ukrainians have the opportunity to share digital documents with bank branches and open online accounts. There are already more than 4,000 for opening an online account in Monobank. Each branch of PrivatBank allows e-documents sharing... Also, in each branch of A-Bank, you can share digital documents and get a service," the minister said.

National Bank  Governor Kyrylo Shevchenko, who also spoke at the briefing, noted the central bank's common goals with the Ministry of Digital Transformation.

"Ukraine today is at the forefront of digital transformation, and we are very pleased to support the relevant initiatives of the Ministry of Digital Transformation... We believe that the future is about digitization," Shevchenko said.

The head of the NBU emphasized that the Ukrainian banking market is one of the world's leaders in terms of going digital, noting that, as per Mastercard, Ukraine ranks world's fourth in the number of contactless transactions.
