Chair of the Government Agency for Tourism Development Maryana Oleskiv has commented on whether Ukrainians should count in the near future on being able to fly overseas for a vacation, as well as on the prospects for the resumption of tour operators' work.

"We can't discuss the summer season, because the reopening of borders Is unlikely for many countries," Oleskiv told Pryamyi TV.

The official suggests that European countries are expected to remain on lockdown until at least mid-summer.

"Of course, tickets are being sold ... but we're not talking about tourists going to the EU countries," the tourism agency's top official said.

Her agency, Oleskiv says, is actively working with tour operators to re-profile the Ukrainian market.

"And many large Ukrainian tour operators are already preparing their offers for summer vacations within Ukraine," she stated.

Also, Maryana Oleskiv commented on a possible change in the air carriers' pricing policies after countries lift quarantine restrictions.

"If we talk about air travel prices, opinions vary. Some say that prices will be much higher, others – on the contrary – that prices will fall, because air carriers will need to fill their planes," said the official.
