Industrial output in Ukraine sees 7.7% decline in 1Q

In March, it grew by 3.6% against the previous month without taking into account adjustments for calendar-day effect, and shrank 1.3% with such adjustment.

The decline in Ukraine's industrial output in March 2020 accelerated to 7.7% year-on-year excluding adjustments for the calendar-day effect, after falling 1.5% in February, the State Statistics Service reports.

With such adjustments, industrial output in March fell by 8.6% in annual terms.

Compared to the previous month, it increased by 3.6% excluding calendar-day effect adjustments and shrank 1.3% after adjustment.

According to the State Statistics Service, the largest decline in annual terms was recorded in the production of motor vehicles, trailers, semi-trailers, and other vehicles (27.7%), production of computers, electronic and optical products (23.9%), production of hard and brown coal (19%), as well as textile and clothing production (16.9%).

Largest growth on year was seen in the production of pharmaceutical products (21.8%), as well as chemicals and chemical products (2.3%).

The State Statistics Service recalled that the data were provided without taking into account the occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

As UNIAN reported earlier, industrial output in Ukraine in 2019 fell by 1.8% after a 1.1% increase in 2018.
