January lockdown: Goods allowed for sale in supermarkets

Supermarkets are allowed to work amid the quarantine.

Ukraine's supermarkets are allowed to sell goods required for daily living activities of citizens, with certain exceptions in the trade amid the strict quarantine across the country introduced from January 8 to January 24.

"During the lockdown, the authorities allowed the operation of only those facilities that provide livelihoods [for citizens]," the Ukrainian TSN TV news service wrote on January 11.

Therefore, supermarkets are allowed to work. However, not everything can be bought there.

The following goods are available in supermarkets:

  • Food;
  • Hygiene products;
  • Household chemicals;
  • Communication equipment;
  • Print press;
  • Animal feed;
  • Drugs;
  • Medical products; and
  • Seeds;

The rest is banned. In particular, clothing and household items, such as dishwashing sponges or garbage bags, are prohibited for sale.
