State Consumer Service official elaborates on work of Kyiv transport amid lockdown

Head of the Ukrainian State Food Safety and Consumer Protection Service's Main Department in the city of Kyiv Oleh Ruban has said the work of shuttle buses will be suspended first in case of the introduction of a lockdown in Ukraine, while that of subway will be considered last.

"If anti-epidemic measures are not observed, there are more risks of the spread of coronavirus in shuttle buses, followed by regular taxis and ground public transport. The subway is in last place thanks to good ventilation and control of wearing face masks. Therefore, restrictions in the work of the subway will be considered last," he told Hromadske Radio.

• On December 4, Stepanov said the ministry would propose to the government to introduce strict quarantine with maximum restrictions starting from early January for three weeks.
• At the same time, President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had recommended that Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal not introduce a lockdown in December.
• Shmyhal said a lockdown would have to be introduced in Ukraine in January.
