The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine has reacted to intentions earlier announced by a number of air carriers to resume flights from Ukraine in late May or June.

The ministry believes such statements are misleading since any resumption of regular air traffic between Ukraine and other countries is off the table at the moment.

Press secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oksana Gerasimova said the intentions of air carriers do not mean that Ukraine is resuming air communication with other countries because all decisions will be made exclusively by the Cabinet of Ministers, hromadske wrote.

"The Ministry has prepared amendments to the relevant government decrees, which must be approved to restore all types of passenger traffic, not just by air," she said.

"Regarding the actions of air carriers selling tickets for May 23, such actions are premature and misleading to passengers before decisions have been made by government. Recommendations regarding the operation of airports are now being prepared, while reopening traffic with other countries depends on decisions of the respective governments regarding the opening of borders for foreign citizens and the epidemiological situation," Gerasimova said.

The ministry notes it is necessary to focus on official statements and government decisions.

It is also reiterated the EU has announced opening borders for third-country nationals is not recommended until June 15.

As UNIAN reported earlier, three international airlines, namely Czech Airlines, Wizz Air, and Lufthansa, announced their plans to resume flights from Ukraine within the period from late May to early June.
