"The decline in gas prices for the third month in a row is a positive signal for households. In April, gas bills should be reduced both due to the end of the heating season and a decrease in Naftogaz's selling price. So, I hope that the burden on Ukrainian households' budgets that are experiencing the negative consequences of [coronavirus] quarantine measures will be eased," the company's press service quotes Naftogaz CEO Andriy Kobolyev as saying on April 22.

In total, the price of gas for households has plummeted by 38% since January 2020, the press service added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers on December 24 provided an opportunity for heat generating companies to slash existing heat tariffs depending on market gas prices.

In March 2020, the wholesale gas price for households, heat producers and other consumers receiving gas under the terms of public service obligations was UAH 3,400, or US$125.69, per 1,000 cubic meters (VAT, retail margin, transmission and distribution costs are not included). The price was 14% down from that of February 2020.
