Ukrainian gas stocks may hit record by new heating season – Naftogaz CEO

The company is actively working to increase the volume of gas storage by foreign companies in Ukrainian USFs.

CEO of National Joint-Stock Company Naftogaz of Ukraine Andriy Kobolyev says natural gas stocks in Ukraine's underground storage facilities (USFs) have grown to about 19 billion cubic meters (bcm) in June 2020 and may hit a record high as of the start of the new heating season.

"As of June, the volume [of gas] in USFs is approaching 19 bcm, which is a relatively positive indicator. We hope to break a new record at the end of this season of pumping natural gas," he said during an online discussion on June 18, 2020.

"We are actively working to increase the volume of gas storage by foreign companies in Ukrainian USFs. Actually, this is what is happening now," Kobolyev said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine started the season of pumping natural gas into its USFs on March 11, when the country's gas reserves there were 15.808 bcm.

By the start of the 2019/2020 heating season, Ukraine had accumulated 21.76 bcm of gas in its USFs, which was a record high figure in the past decade.
