The National Bank of Ukraine will continue its policy of working with a floating currency rate, that's per the bank's new chief, Kyrylo Shevchenko.

"The National Bank sees no ceiling breaches," Shevchenko told a Kyiv briefing on Monday, adding that this is confirmed by that day's trade where, after the NBU "offered intervention and the exchange rate never reached the ceiling, it went toward strengthening".

"Therefore, the National Bank, operating in line with the law on currency, will pursue such work. The NBU's policy on working with a floating rate will remain unchanged," Shevchenko stressed.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Kyrylo Shevchenko, who has recently been appointed NBU Governor following resignation of Yakiv Smolii, said there would be no uncontrolled inflation, while monetary policies would be balanced. Also, he named maintaining macro-financial stability one of his priorities in office.

On July 20, President Volodymyr Zelensky officially introduced Kyrylo Tymoshenko.

President said he believes Shevchenko will address all challenges facing him and the NBU.
