The latest audit carried out in the State Reserve warehouses in Ukraine's Ternopil region revealed a shortage of some 150,000 tonnes of grain worth over UAH 800 million (some US$30 million).
Police have opened criminal proceedings into misappropriation, embezzlement, or seizure of property by abuse of power, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

The volume of grain missing would require some 2,700 rail cars to transport.
Paperwork claims the grain is in place, while the inspection, carried out at three sites, discovered the opposite.
Those responsible will face seven to twelve years in prison.
