Non-banking sector recovering to pre-quarantine levels – NBU

Lessors have rebounded the most since Q1, providing almost 30% more services.

The activity of non-bank financial institutions in Ukraine since year-start has approached pre-quarantine levels.

"Lessors have rebounded the most since the first quarter, providing 29.5% more services in the third quarter. Among the affected are only institutions providing factoring services: their volume decreased by 11.5%," the press service of the National Bank reports.

Insurance market

The regulator notes that the insurance market continues to recover. On the market, 215 institutions operate invariably, while the number of insolvent ones decreased to 49 of 57 in Q2.

Credit unions

The number of credit unions in Q3 decreased by one, to 327. The number of CU members continues to decline.

The volume of loans issued by unions stated to grow: in Q3 – by 20% to UAH 642 million. There are 11 undercapitalized unions on the market – one down from year-half.

The volume of assets since the beginning of the year stands at UAH 2.6 billion, that is, 2.5% more than at this year's beginning.

Financing companies

There were 13 fewer financial companies, with 1,025 institutions remaining on the market. Of these, 160 did not operate in Q3.

The volume of assets has increased by 8.1% since year-start, amounting to UAH 170 billion. More services were provided than in pre-quarantine times: leasing was provided worth UAH 0.76 billion, loans – worth UAH 23.3 billion.

Factoring services' volume decreased to UAH 19.5 billion in Q3, against Q1.

Lessors

The number of lessors increased by one, with 145 institutions now operating on the market, of which 35 have not signed a single lease agreement since year-start. The volume of services rendered also jumped above Q1 indicators, to UAH 3.4 billion.

The number of pawnshops has decreased by two, with 304 institutions remaining, of which 13 have not provided services since year-start. The volume of services provided increased to UAH 4.6 billion, which is higher than in Q1 and Q2. Pawnshop assets fell to UAH 4.1 billion against year-start.
