U.S. slaps sanctions on three Russia companies under Iran, North Korea, Syria Nonproliferation Act

Now U.S.-based individuals and entities are barred from doing business with those companies.

The U.S. Department of State announces sanctions have been slapped on three Russian companies for violating a U.S. law restricting weapons trade with Iran, North Korea, and Syria.

This was reported by the Ukrainian-registered European Pravda media outlet with reference to the U.S. Department of State's information in the U.S. Federal Register.

The Iran, North Korea, and Syria Nonproliferation Act prohibits trade with those countries of goods, services, or technology used to make weapons of mass destruction or cruise or ballistic missiles.

For Iran, the Act covers the period from January 1, 1999; for Syria from January 1, 2005; and for North Korea from January 1, 2006.

The recent sanctions were imposed on November 6, and the corresponding decision will be published in the Federal Register on November 25.

The sanctions were imposed against three entities from Russia, namely Aviazapchast PLC, JSC Elecon, and Nilco Group, as well as against two companies from China.

Now U.S.-based individuals and entities are barred from doing business with those companies.
