Panama will punish ships flying the flag of Panama if they enter ports in Russia-occupied Crimea.
"Panama's Ministry of Foreign Affairs will take control of the situation regarding facts of violations related to visits to the closed ports of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea by ships flying the Panamanian flag – violators will face tough sanctions," Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yevhen Yenin said on Facebook.

According to him, the first political consultations with Panama in the past eight years took place on August 5.
Panama was represented by that country's Deputy Foreign Minister Federico Alfaro Boyd.
The parties agreed to intensify economic cooperation, in particular, in the field of shipbuilding, air transportation, hydropower and the like.
They also agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation as part of international organizations, in particular the UN.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine officially shut down all its ports on the Russia-occupied peninsula in July 2014, thus foreign ships are not allowed to enter the Crimean harbors.
