Over US$120 mln spent to combat COVID-19 spread in Ukraine – Finance Ministry

Ukraine's Finance Ministry says more than UAH 3.2 billion (US$120 million) in budget funds has been spent to combat the spread of the novel COVID-19 coronavirus nationwide.

"According to the State Treasury, as of June 25, 2020, UAH 3.25 billion [US$122 million] has been paid from budgets of all levels: UAH 911 million [US$34.2 million] from the national budget and UAH 2.366 billion [US$88.7 million] from local budgets," the ministry's press service said on June 1.

In total, UAH 624 million (US$23.4 million) was spent to this end in June alone, the report said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on April 13, the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine' parliament, passed amendments to the law on the 2020 national budget, according to which a special fund worth UAH 64.7 billion (US$2.4 billion) was created.
