Poland has transferred humanitarian aid to Ukrainian military doctors to counter the spread of COVID-19.
The ceremony for the transfer of assistance from the Polish representative office of the International Solidarity Fund in Ukraine was hosted by the National Military Medical Clinical Center "Main Military Clinical Hospital" in the capital city of Kyiv, according to an UNIAN correspondent.
According to Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Ukraine Bartosz Cichocki, it is important that the assistance be forwarded to field hospitals, including at the front line in Donbas.
"We understand very well that Ukrainian soldiers and Ukraine are not only defending their territory, they are also defending Poland. They are also our heroes and our wounded, and we are very well aware that this is our common threat and that this conflict is our common challenge," the ambassador said.

He added that the coronavirus has nothing to do with the war, but people must understand the complicated situation. "It's even more difficult to deal with the epidemic amid a conflict," he said.
Poland has already provided similar assistance to the Ukrainian military in Lviv, Berdychiv and Vinnytsia. "We hope that in this difficult time, thanks to solidarity, we will win," the diplomat said.
In turn, Chairman of the Board of the International Solidarity Fund Rafał Dzięciołowski said the situation with coronavirus requires solidarity, so the fund has been implementing relevant measures for almost two months.

According to him, today the humanitarian aid the Polish side transfers to Ukraine includes 5,000 protective face masks, 500 disposable protective suits, 100 pulse oximeters, 34 ambu bags for manual ventilation of the lungs, 18 medical cabinets, three intraocular pressure indicators, a medical sterilizer, and a water distiller.
Cichocki added that PPE had been purchased in Ukraine, which indicates that Poland helped Ukrainian manufacturers and businesses.
The aid is estimated at about UAH 500,000 (US$18,797).
According to the ambassador, Poland has recently provided Ukraine with humanitarian aid in connection with COVID-19 worth about US$100,000.
