Remittances from labor migrants dropping – NBU

Remittances to Ukraine from the country's labor migrants working abroad have decreased by 8.5% since summer-start.

"These figures are year-on-year. In June of this year, Ukrainians transferred $856 million. Compared to February, the volume of money transfers decreased by 13.9%," reads the report by the TSN news service.

In total, in 2019, Ukrainians transferred $12 billion.

This year, the volume of remittances is expected to be significantly lower.

As reported, a new law on financial monitoring has been launched in Ukraine.

Changes affected non-cash payments, cash transfers, online payments, and even gambling.

Most debated though was a new ban on replenishing bank cards for more than UAH 5,000 without proper payer identification.
