The Cabinet on March 31 decided to tap Director General of Zaporizhia nuclear power plant Kotin to head Energoatom.
Member of Parliament Olha Vasylevska-Smahliuk claims National Nuclear Energy Generating Company (NNEGC) Energoatom's acting Director Petro Kotin has requested a monthly salary of UAH 1.6 million, or US$59,240.
"I like the way people come to power. They haven't done anything outstanding, but the first thing they do is to seek insane money. Take the new head of Energoatom, Petro Kotin, who has raised the issue with the Cabinet to increase his salary to UAH 1.6 million per month," she wrote on Facebook on April 26.
"He became the acting director of the company on April 2. [He] hasn't delivered any performance, any results yet but 'just needs some money,'" she said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, on November 27, 2019, Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers decided to dismiss Yuriy Nedashkovsky from the post of President of the state-owned nuclear power plants operator, Energoatom.
March 31, 2020, the Cabinet decided to tap Director General of Zaporizhia nuclear power plant Kotin to head Energoatom.
Prior to Kotin's appointment, the nuclear company was temporarily headed by Director General of Rivne nuclear power plant Pavlo Pavlyshyn.

UNIAN memo. Energoatom is Ukraine's largest electricity producer, accounting for about 50% of the country's overall power output. Energoatom is responsible for the safe operation of the country's nuclear power plants.
Ukraine ranks seventh globally in terms of the installed capacity of its nuclear power generating units. Energoatom operates four nuclear power plants across Ukraine with a total of 15 power generating units, all with VVER-type reactors. Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, operating six power units with a total capacity of 6 GW, is Europe's largest.
