Restrictions on nuclear generation now toughest ever – Energoatom's acting chief

There is no need to either put power units on halt or in reserve to carry out scheduled maintenance, Kotin says.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UAA1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Energy generation at Energoatom's nuclear power plants (NPPs) fell to a historic minimum of 6,630 MW due to the toughest ever restrictions imposed by government, which will not contribute to addressing financial problems the company is facing and stability on the country's energy market.

According to Kotin, there is no need to either put power units to a halt or in reserve to carry out scheduled maintenance works.

"I don't remember even once in recent years that the repairs at  NPP power units were being  'long-delayed' and now they have taken the opportunity to 'enhance safety.' We have been and are carrying out scheduled maintenance according to schedule. Moreover, all safety measures are scheduled step by step, and usually, to have the work done, it is neither required to stop power units, nor it is needed to put them in reserve," he said.

Kotin emphasized Energoatom is able to take absolutely all detailed actions to improve safety until 2023.

"The main thing is that the company not be driven into debt, and that we have the opportunity to make money and cover all transactions with our contractors," he added.
