In total, there are 109 Russian airlines' planes subject to seizure over the violation of international transportation rules.
The Ukrainian authorities have ruled to seize 44 more Russian planes for flights to occupied Crimea, as they violated the procedure for entering/exiting the occupied peninsula and the rules of international flights.
The motion was filed by the Ukrainian Prosecutor's Office for the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (ARC), the press service of the ARC Prosecutor's Office reported on Telegram on November 17.
The related criminal proceedings are being investigated by the SBU Security Service of Ukraine on the facts of violations by officials of foreign airlines of the rules of international flights and violations of the procedure for entering and exiting the temporarily occupied territory (Part 2 of Article 332-1, Article 334, and Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
In March 2014, Ukraine closed the airspace over occupied Crimea due to the impossibility of overseeing air traffic and ensuring the safety of flights. All airports on the occupied peninsula were officially closed.
"Despite this, an average of 109 aircraft of Russian airlines carrying out regular passenger air transportation operations to the occupied peninsula were identified and are subject to seizure over the violation of international flight rules and Ukrainian legislation," the prosecutors said.
